Rovereto, the second largest<br />
town of Trentino, is the ideal and<br />
cultural centre of Vallagarina. In<br />
the heart of the Valle dell’Adige,<br />
lying among hills and vineyards,<br />
the so-called ‘Oak Town’ has<br />
always been a place of lively cultural<br />
exhange. Strolling through<br />
the streets of the historic centre<br />
you can retrace its history. The<br />
urban arrangement retains traces<br />
of its medieval origins in the<br />
cluster of houses around CASTEL<br />
VENETO. The influence of the Serenissima<br />
can be seen in the alleyways<br />
that evoke the atmosphere<br />
of the Venetian calle and splendid<br />
eighteenth century palazzos line<br />
Corso Bettini.<br />
The town also has some interesting<br />
museums like the ITALIAN WAR<br />
HISTORY MUSEUM, the CIVIC MUSEUM<br />
and the MART that beginning with<br />
the inheritance of Fortunato Depero<br />
was launched on the scene of<br />
the art capitals in Europe.<br />
Since the time it was crossed by<br />
the front line of the First World<br />
War, the town has been deeply<br />
involved in subjects promoting<br />
brotherhood among peoples. Visible<br />
evidence of this can be found<br />
in the huge BELL on the Colle di<br />
Miravalle.<br />
