BREAKFAST / LUNCH FREE / REDUCED GUIDELINES ALL STUDENT NAMES AND FAMILY INFORMATION PROVIDED ARE CONFIDENTIAL. Children need healthy meals to learn. Joseph Badger offers healthy meals each school day. Breakfast costs PK-4 85¢, 5-12 $1.10; lunch costs PK-4 $1.85, 5-12 $2.10. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals; please complete the free / reduced lunch application. Reduced price is 30¢ for breakfast and 40¢ for lunch. • Do I need to fill out an application for each child? No Complete one Free and Reduced Price School Meals Application for all students in your household. We cannot approve an application that is not complete, so be certain to complete all required information. • Do I need an application for free / reduced breakfast? No One application serves for both breakfast and lunch. • Who can receive free / reduced meals? Children in households with at least one person (including grandparents) receiving benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly the Food Stamp Program), or Ohio Works First (OWF) benefits will receive free meals. Most foster children can receive free meals regardless of your income. Also, your children can receive free / reduced meals if your household’s gross income is within the free / reduced limits on the Federal Income Guidelines. • My Child’s application was approved last year. Do I need to complete another application this year? Yes Your child’s application is only good for last school year and for the first few days of the present school year. You must submit a new application, due September 11, 2011, unless you are notified that your child is directly certified through the State of Ohio. • What if I disagree with the school’s decision about my application? You should talk to school officials. You also may ask for a hearing by writing or calling: Dr. David D. Bair, Superintendent, 7119 State Route 7, Kinsman, Ohio 44428, 330.876.2810. • Who should I include as members of my household? You must include all people living in your household, related or not (such as grandparents, other relatives, or friends). You must include yourself and all children who live with you. • My Family needs more help. Are there other programs we might apply for? To find out how to apply for Ohio SNAP or other assistance benefits, contact your local assistance office or call 877-852-0010. The Joseph Badger School is concerned about the sensitivity of student lunch status. All students check out (pay) for their breakfast and lunch in the same manner, using a pin pad; therefore, no status identification. Please call 330.876.2810 if you need help or have questions.
