effective orientation for new employees for using Datatel. As part of this project, staff members now have access to online Datatel training modules. In the 2007-08 academic year, the human resources department began including these online training modules in new employee orientation. Staff/faculty progress can be monitored by human resources staff using the course management tool. Additional resources can be added as needed in a timely fashion. Modules provide tutorials, printable handouts, help manuals, video demonstrations, Internet links, and communication links for all college resources. Next week, information regarding another AQIP project will be featured. Mailer review is this week In a few weeks, the office of marketing and public information will send the Spring 2009 mailer to the printer to arrive on campus Oct. 24. In order to assure the accuracy of the contents of the course listings, all professors and division chairs are invited to look over the pages. This is a chance to check for accuracy of class times, dates, locations, titles, etc. but not to alter what is being offered or to add or delete sections. Anyone who would like to make this final check can visit Sharon Hoogstraat's desk between 9 a.m. and noon on Sept. 24 and 25. If that time frame does not work, call Sharon at ext. 8509 to set up a time. Events for community and students are this week Blood drive--Sept. 22 The American Red Cross will take blood donations from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 22 in the Iroquois Room. In most cases, the entire donation process takes about one hour. Participants must have last donated on or before July 28 to be eligible, along with other requirements. All donors will receive a free T-shirt. The blood drive is sponsored by KCC's Student Advisory Council. For more information or to set up an appointment, phone ext. 8100. Walk-in appointments also are available. Town Hall Meeting--Sept. 24
The KCC chapter of Lambda Epsilon Chi will host the second of two Town Hall Meetings at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the Workforce Development Center Conference Hall. Participants will meet the candidates for circuit judge, Democrat Adrienne Albrecht and Republican Chris Bohlen. The Town Hall Meetings are free and open to the public. KCC professor Kristine Condon will moderate. Lambda Epsilon Chi is a nationally-based honor society in paralegal/legal assistant studies. 'Ultimate Roadtrip' to career success--Sept. 25 KCC students--especially freshman--are invited to "The Ultimate Road Trip," a free interactive presentation. The presentation will be noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25 in the Iroquois Room. Students will be involved in on-stage activities and will recieve a guidebook to fill in during the presentation. Topics will relate to managing time, developing skills sought by employers, and taking actions during college to maximize future opportunities. The event is free, and no reservations are required. It is sponsored by the office of Career Services in cooperation with Monster.com. Student services is offering fall workshops The office of Student Services is offering a number of workshops throughout the semester. Faculty and staff are encouraged to tell students about these opportunities.For more information about any of the workshops, including how to reserve a space to attend, phone Student Services at ext. 8500.
