secure. The Recruitment and<br />
Admissions Office will acknowledge<br />
receipt <strong>of</strong> all application materials<br />
as quickly as possible. If you have<br />
not received an acknowledgement<br />
within a reasonable amount <strong>of</strong> time,<br />
you should contact us again.<br />
Application deadline<br />
There is no fixed deadline for<br />
applications. However, we strongly<br />
recommend that you apply as soon<br />
as possible and no later than three<br />
months before the start <strong>of</strong> term. If<br />
you wish to apply for on-campus<br />
accommodation, an application<br />
must be made online by the end<br />
<strong>of</strong> July.<br />
Funding opportunities<br />
The School <strong>of</strong> English awards<br />
several Arts and Humanities<br />
Research Council (AHRC) and<br />
School-funded PhD and MA<br />
scholarships every year. Research<br />
students can also apply for a<br />
Graduate Teaching Assistantship<br />
which represents a tuition fee waiver<br />
and an opportunity to undertake<br />
paid teaching.<br />
The School also <strong>of</strong>fers several<br />
specialist scholarships for both<br />
taught MA and research students.<br />
There are several Erasmus Mundus<br />
Joint Doctoral Fellowships available<br />
for students who apply for the<br />
TEEME programme<br />

The Ian Gregor Scholarship pays<br />
fees and a £500 bursary for one<br />
year’s full-time study and the Sasha<br />
Roberts Scholarship is an award <strong>of</strong><br />
£2,000.<br />
Some partial funding is also<br />
available for international students<br />
(who should apply to International<br />
Development at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Kent</strong>).<br />
There are also several <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Kent</strong> at Paris scholarships available<br />
for students who take one <strong>of</strong> the<br />
School <strong>of</strong> English Paris<br />
programmes.<br />
All scholarships are highly<br />
competitive and have deadlines in<br />
the first quarter <strong>of</strong> the calendar year.<br />
Returning <strong>Kent</strong> students also<br />
enjoy a 10% discount on fees<br />
at postgraduate level.<br />
