In the next three days the battalion lost 3 men killed and a further 28 wounded. Frederick appears to be one of those three men who were killed. LOUGH F.G Second Lieutenant Frederic George LOUGH. Husband of Kate Lough of “Killarney”, Etchingham, Sussex. Buried Neuville- Bourjonval British Cemetery, Belincourt, France. Grave reference – D.1. Frederic was killed on the first day of the last great German (Spring) Offensive (Operation Michael). MAYNARD C Private C MAYNARD. MAYNARD J.C Gunner 33445 James Charles MAYNARD. 24 th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery (RGA). Died Sunday 8 th April 1917 aged 26 years. Born Rolvenden. Enlisted Canterbury. Resided Rolvenden. Son of James and Mary Maynard of 5, Spring Grove, Marden, Kent. Buried in the Achiet-Le-Grand Communal Cemetery Extension, France. Grave reference IV.K.20. James name also appears on the Marden War Memorial in Kent. The Ashford 1918 Absentee Voters List gives – High Street, Rolvenden Rifleman 372640 Leonard MAYNARD.
