QNV 2030. It justifies the theme of KAHRAMAA
Annual Forum 2011 “Alignment of KAHRAMAA
5 Year Business Plans and Strategies with
QNDS 2012-2016”. The theme is meant to
align plans with the sector strategies, QNV objective
and inspirations. It was considered in department
plans. This emphasizes KAHRAMAA
leading role in setting the strategic planning as
the base of corporate performance. It is improved
and developed through quality training,
practice, and interaction with leading corporations.
Where do customer service projects stand
in Corporate strategic plans?
Customer satisfaction remains our strategic
objective in KAHRAMAA. We apply the latest
technologies in all fields to upgrade customer
services and promote all services KAHRAMAA
provides. In our commitment to KAHRAMAA
mission of providing sustainable electricity
and water services, we strengthen production
capabilities which witnessed a noticeable increase.
Mesaieed (A) generated a full capacity
of 2,007 MW. RAF A1 produced its target
of 45 MIGD of potable water. RL (c) generated
2,730 MW in 2011 and 63 MIGD. Electricity
demand increased by 9 % while water demand
increased by 8.5% compared with 2010. We
target to make use of the available technology
to achieve the optimal use of resources and reduce
loss to maintain services. Various projects
are expected to be implemented up to 2016.
They are meant to enhance services provided to
customers. This includes the unified call center
which apply single window system. Here we
are proud to mention that KAHRAMAA website
won the prize of best GCC site. Besides, we
are interested in communicating with our customers
via social media platforms.
What about electricity strategic projects
and network upgrade?
Development and upgrade plans run on continuous
basis. This includes the different phases
of transmission network development and expansion.
We are now in phase X which contains
two parts at a total cost of QR 3.6. bn.
It is a vital breakthrough in Qatar transmission
network as it includes primary substations, cables,
and overhead lines.
There plan period witnesses great advance in
the studies of power trade with the neighboring
countries. It is encouraged by the commissioning
and operation of the GCC power grid and
the neighboring countries will to make use of
Qatar electricity surplus.
What about water strategic projects in KAH-
RAMAA?
We have started the implementation of ambitious
plans for the development of water network.
This includes the construction of reservoirs
at a capacity exceeds 1600 MIG and the
associated pipelines. There are projects for the
installation of water mains from Abo Fontas
facility, Musaimer pumping stations and pipelines,
and the replacement of Doha network.
Our priorities remains as
they used to: job Qatarization,
and the recruitment
of qualified cadres
to fill the vacancies. We
pay great intention to
the training quality, development,
and capacity
building by cooperating
with leading corporations.
KAHRAMAA has completed SCADA Project for
water network monitoring.
As for water security, KAHRAMAA has set
plans for the construction of giant water reservoirs
to secure Qatar needs of water for seven
days during emergency. KAHRAMAA has plans
to conducts study with the Ministry of Environment
and Qatar Food Security Program on the
feasibility of feeding the underground basin by
desalinated water injection to ensure the continuity
of water supplies, at any emergencies, for
at least 90 days.
Within the local and global trend of environment
conservation, do you consider environment
standards in these giant projects?
Our long term plans for the development of
generation and desalination capacities have
defined the best techniques of electricity and
water production in the coming years. Production
quality, environmental impacts, and economic
aspects have been considered. Hence,
we are interested in the solar energy to reduce
gas dependency. The nuclear power will remain
the main source for clear energy in future.
We are conducting a contract to determine the
feasibility of constructing hydroelectric nuclear
power plants. At the same time, KAHRAMAA
contributes effectively to the regional and international
cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear
power under the umbrella of the Ministry
of Environment. There is a pilot project to study
the feasibility of using RO for water production.
KAHRAMAA is greatly interested in the health
and safety of staff and customers. It is reflected
in the quality of product and the less work accidents.
What about the development of human resources
in KAHRAMAA?
Our priorities remains as they used to: job Qatarization,
and the recruitment of qualified cadres
to fill the vacancies. We pay great intention to
the training quality, development, and capacity
building by cooperating with leading corporations.
How do you measure your success in achieving
these strategic plans and projects?
Our success in achieving objectives are measured
by performance indicators and calibrating
with that of the similar leading corporations.
We made great advance in this area as Qatar
was the main founder and head of GCC benchmarking
committee.
We work as per a methodology to achieve
QNV 2030 and QNDS. I reiterate that the real
challenge we encounter is continuing our successful
march. We are determined to exert
all efforts to maintain the pride of place KAH-
RAMAA has achieved. We endeavor to promote
the good relation we have created with
our customers. In fact, these objectives demand
focus on business planning in order to
achieve sustainability; KAHRAMAA is capable
of realizing it. We should look confidently into
the future and feel proud to be part of this success
story.
