Elwy Rides Off
Into the Sunset
Elwy Yost, well known by
many Knowledge viewers as
the affable host of Night at
the Movies and on-air pledge
campaigns, passed away on
July 21. He was 86 years old.
The ever-witty Elwy loved
nothing more than to share his
knowledge and enthusiasm
for cinema. Before a move
to Vancouver brought him
to Knowledge, Elwy hosted
Saturday Night at the Movies
on public broadcaster
TVOntario for 25 years. Elwy’s
contributions to Canadian
television were honoured in
1999, when he was made
a Member of the Order of
Canada.
