Cross-Country Bylaws<br />
1. There will be two races with two chutes: one chute for varsity and one chute for junior varsity. All the boys<br />
will run together, all the girls will run together.<br />
2. An unlimited number of competitors will be allowed from each school.<br />
3. The first five finishers from each school will count for team score, regardless of number of athletes<br />
competing from that school.<br />
4. Four meets will make up the season.<br />
5. The championship in each category will be based on the accumulated team totals of the three lowest team<br />
scores from the four meets.<br />
TIES: If 2 schools are tied, the team with the lowest 5 th place runner in the final race will win.<br />
6. The distances for the meets shall be:<br />
a) Junior boys: 4000m, 4500m, 5000m, 5000m<br />
b) Senior boys: 4000m, 4500m, 5000m, 5000m<br />
c) Junior girls: 2000m, 2500m, 3000m, 3000m<br />
d) Senior girls: 2000m, 2500m, 3000m, 3000m<br />
7. Classification<br />
a) Junior varsity - under 17 years of age as of midnight of the current school year, August 31.<br />
b) Varsity - under 19 years of age as of midnight of the current school year, August 31.<br />

Pre-Season Planning: (April)<br />
Confirm <strong>KPAC</strong> meet dates<br />
Confirm Meet # 3 date (Athletics Manitoba Milk Run) and price for <strong>KPAC</strong> schools<br />
Obtain permits for Kildonan Park and Bird‘s Hill Park<br />
Obtain certificate of insurance from your school division (Bird‘s Hill permit requires this)<br />
Always book venues before passing convenorship to next school<br />
In-Season Tasks: (September)<br />
Photocopy materials and get envelopes ready for <strong>KPAC</strong> meeting<br />
Photocopy time sheets/result sheets/scorecards X4 meets<br />
Clip 1 st – 10 th place ribbons to place cards<br />
Equipment:<br />
Stakes with ribbon (metal/wooden) contact MB Hydro for small wire flags<br />
Hammer for wooden stakes<br />
Extra flagging tape<br />
Finish chute stakes<br />
Flagging tape. coloured tape, or yellow rope for chutes<br />
2 large signs: ―JV‖ ―VARSITY‖ to hold in front of chutes<br />
(Possibility run four individual races to avoid confusion)<br />
4 stop watches (labelled JV GIRLS/JV BOYS/VAR GIRLS/VAR BOYS)<br />
Starter pistol and ammo<br />
<strong>KPAC</strong> banners and first/second place ribbons and certificates<br />
1-10 TH place ribbons<br />
JV GIRLS/JV BOYS/VAR GIRLS/VAR BOYS place cards in different colours<br />
