Curling Bylaws<br />

Rules:<br />

a) Rules of the Manitoba Curling Association (MCA) shall apply except where specified.<br />

b) All games will be 8 ends; 1 hour and 40 minute bell.<br />

c) Teams will be allowed to compete with 3 players.<br />

d) Allow one time out at anytime during the game as well as the fourth end break.<br />

e) A teacher must accompany teams from their school for supervision purposes. That teacher may also serve<br />

as the coach.<br />

f) No headwear is allowed. An established consequence for teams not complying with this rule.<br />

Steps to follow if a team/player is not complying:<br />

Entry:<br />

1. A warning from the opposing coach prior to the start of the game. If the team/player does not<br />

comply a default against the offending team, resulting in (8- 0) for the opposite team.<br />

2. The convenor is called about the offense and records. The appropriate win for the opposing team.<br />

a) Each school may enter one girls‘ and one boys‘ team.<br />

b) Each team will consist of 4 players plus one alternate.<br />

Competition:<br />

a) Competition will be a single round robin.<br />

If there are 4 teams or less (girl‘s or boys‘) competition will be a double round robin.<br />

b) Both the boys‘ and girls‘ teams from a school should be scheduled to play against the same opponent<br />

school, on the same night, at the same club. ie school double header.<br />

The convener should request an ‗Intent to Participate‘ form no later than September 30 in order to secure<br />

ice time as required or to release it as not required.<br />

The convener will be responsible to make a coaching contact list that can be distributed at the coaches<br />

meeting. Coaches information should come from the intent form.<br />

The convener will be responsible to organize a coaches meeting (by the end of the 2 nd week in October)<br />

prior to the season to discuss and review details such as:<br />

a. Practice ice available prior to league play if desired. Teams can request up to 3 practice times.<br />

b. Minimum number of ends played or not<br />

c. Review <strong>KPAC</strong> by-laws, tie breaking procedures, etc<br />

d. Make coaches aware of MHSAA deadlines for eligibility and wildcard applications<br />

e. Utilization of players – number of players on a team, usage of alternates, etc.<br />

The convener is responsible for booking hotels for provincials if they are out of town as early as possible<br />

(first week of school).<br />

The convener will draw up and distribute the round robin and playoff schedules within one week of the<br />

coaches meeting.<br />
