Competition:
Tiering
2008-09 was the first year of tiering in KPAC volleyball. Only the varsity teams were tiered. In the 2011-
2012 season, both junior varsity and varsity teams will be tiered.
Schools must indicate which tier they want to compete in by the date set by the convener (usually the start
of the second week in September)
Schools must inform the convener of their ―no play dates‖ by the date set by the convener.

Tiering shall only occur if there are a minimum of 4 teams per tier
League play will be as follows:
7 teams in a tier – double round-robin; home and home
6 teams in a tier – double round robin; home and home
5 teams in a tier – triple round robin
4 teams in a tier – triple round robin
Varsity girls and boys games will be on the same night – Monday and Wednesday, with the girls playing first
on Monday and the boys playing first on Wednesday (6:00 and approx. 7:15)
JV girls and boys games will be held on the same night – Tuesday and Thursday, with the girls playing first
on Tuesday and the boys playing first on Thursday. (6:00 and approx. 7:15)
The second match on any evening will start no earlier than 15 minutes after the completion of the first
match.
A Tier 2 team can declare their intention to play in the Tier 1 playoffs by the midpoint of the season (Date
to be set by convener).
Tier 2 teams who move up to play in the Tier 1 playoffs cannot play in Tier 2 playoffs.
Tier 2 teams who decide to play in the Tier 1 playoffs will be seeded at the bottom in the Tier 1 playoffs
Winners of both Tier 1 and Tier 2 will get Championship banners.
Tiered Playoff Format
All teams in both tiers make the playoffs.
The playoff format will be determined based on the number of teams in a tier
7 teams – 1 st place team gets a bye to semi-finals
6 teams – 1 st and 2 nd place teams get byes to semi-finals
5 teams – 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd place teams get byes to semi-finals; 4 th and 5 th place teams play-off for birth
in semi-finals.
Non-tiered Varsity or JV League Play
Teams would participate in a round-robin league with the top four teams advancing through the first round of
playoffs.
