Coffee 2 Go-Kart Receives Warm Welcome!
When Mark Chamberlain was made redundant in his
driving job as the recession bit, he was determined
to find a new job using his years of experience.
Eight months on from buying a coffee machine and a car,
Mark is now like a local ‘Santa Claus,’ complete with his trademark
red shirt, as he appears daily with drinks and muffins at
grateful offices around Pukekohe.
Mark: “The service has been really well received in Pukekohe and
at events around the district. Before starting Coffee 2 Go-Kart,
I did product trials to find just the right coffee, one that gives
consistency and appeals to a wide range of tastes. Three
months after starting, I did the same with muffins and was fortunate
to find Kathy’s Kitchen. Kathy bakes our orders fresh
every day – when I pick them up in the morning, they are warm
from the oven and smell wonderful!”
A range of iced drinks was added to Mark’s selection of teas and
coffee for summer and, due to popular demand, he is now looking
into providing wraps and coffee for lunchtime customers.
One of Mark’s aims when he started his new career was to have
fun and he achieves that every day. Workers are always pleased
to see him arrive with his cheery smile and basket of tempting
muffins. It’s not unusual for him to receive texts on his rounds
saying “when are you coming Mark? We need our coffee!”
Wife and business partner Debbi works with Mark at special
events around the district, including calf club days, school galas
and fundraising events like the big fireworks display in Pukekohe.
The pair donates a percentage of their takings to the groups
benefiting from fundraisers and Mark hands out fliers from his
Mark and Debbi Chamberlain.

“We just love living in Franklin and it’s important for us to be part
of the community, helping out wherever we can,” says Mark.
With 11 year old twins Ben and Emma at Patumahoe School,
the family is also busy each year with their calf club. The couple
settled in Pukekohe seven years ago, but Mark’s family farm
was at Bombay so he spent a lot of time in the area as a child.
People sometimes ask what DeMac Payroll is – signwritten on
Mark’s Coffee 2 Go-Kart. DeMac Payroll is Debbi’s business, a
service for small business owners to take away the headaches
of staff payroll. “I set up a whole payroll system, managing holidays,
sick leave, child support payments, Kiwi Saver and dealing
with IRD. Staff payments can be complex, especially with
the tax changes. I promote Ace Payroll, but can work with any
existing system,” says Debbi.
