Julia Winter Mason, M.D., M.S., and husband, Eliot, welcomed a
daughter, Sophia Winter Mason, on July 1, 2003.
Christopher Poor, M.D., Ph.D., practices emergency medicine at the
Murray-Callaway County Hospital Emergency Center in New Concord,
Kentucky. Chris writes that he and his spouse, Bridget Poor, are: “Settled
in rural Kentucky, near grandparents and recreation. I spend a lot of time
with my family, and Bridget and I are home-educating our children,
Katelyn, Sabry, and Savannah.”
Lisa Ruohoniemi, M.D., Ph.D., along with husband, Tim, and children,
Emma and Ian, have departed Minneapolis for a two-year assignment in
Kathmandu, Nepal, under the auspices of the World Mission Prayer
League and the United Mission to Nepal. Tim grew up in Nepal, and the
entire family has visited so they have both friends and experience with the
region. Lisa writes that Partners in Pediatrics, where she has been working,
gave her “a warm send off,” and she realized “what a great place it had
been to work, without the extreme demands that most doctors experience
in this country.” She hopes to be teaching neuroscience at the medical
school at Kathmandu University.
1995
Bruce Cantor, M.D., M.S., and his wife, Susan, welcomed a son,
Benjamin Solomon Cantor, born on September 6, 2002. Bruce has given
up his position as a hospitalist in internal medicine to become a full-time
pediatrician with Partners in Pediatrics in Minneapolis where he was
formerly part-time only.
Joshua Shimony, M.D., Ph.D., has been appointed assistant professor at
the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University Medical
Center in St. Louis. His focus is on neuroradiology, and he is conducting
research on diffusing and perfusion and MR imaging.
1996
Monique Brown, M.D., M.B.A., completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal
medicine at UIC College of Medicine in Chicago and now has an
OB/GYN practice in Tucson,Arizona.
Benjamin Horowitz Levi, M.D., Ph.D., and his wife, Shaun, along with
daughter, Rose, welcomed Jack Dewey into the world on January 20, 2003.
1997
Marly (Pierre-Jerome) Bradley, M.D., J.D., completed a residency in
pediatrics at Northwestern University Children’s Memorial Hospital and is
currently in emergency medicine at the Riley Hospital for Children of
Indiana University /Purdue University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Anuradha Chaddah, M.D., J.D., and Avery Ince, M.D., Ph.D.,
welcomed daughter Ianthe Kristen Ince on February 12, 2003.
Eileen Crowley, M.D., Ph.D., left the faculty at the University of
California, San Francisco, to join Kaiser in Vallejo, California.
Anthony French, M.D., Ph.D., is a fellow in pediatric rheumatology at
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he is
MSP graduate, Martin Pomper, M.D., Ph.D., ‘90, gave the keynote career path presentation
“An Academic Medical Career: The Second Stage,” as well as the closing keynote
presentation “Molecular Imaging” during the fall MSP retreat on August 23, 2003.

devoting the majority of his time to research on natural killer cells and
viral infection. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Mayo Graduate
School of Medicine and made the move to St. Louis with his spouse,
Dana French, and children, Jacob, Rachel, and Emily.
Jill Golden Rosenthal, M.D., M.A., completed the UIC-COM
occupational medicine residency and has assumed a position as attending
physician for the World Trade Center Worker and Volunteer Screening
Program; she will be conducting the medical exams on those in the
Chicago area who are in the UIC-based study. Jill is also co-medical
advisor to the Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago Company.
1998
Robin Maier, M.D., is a resident in family practice at the University of
Pittsburgh. Robin, along with husband, John Maier, M.D., Ph.D., class
of 1999, are kept busy by sons, Jay, Jack, and Thomas.
Eduardo Meirelles, M.D., Ph.D., is a resident in neurosurgery at the
University of Toronto, Ontario.
Joel Shenker, M.D., Ph.D., currently a post-doctoral associate in
behavioral and cognitive neurology at the University of Florida College
of Medicine, was awarded the 2003 American Academy of Neurology
Foundation Corporate Roundtable Clinical Research Training Fellowship
for his research “Anosognosia for Memory Deficits in Temporal
Lobectomy.”
1999
David Hasleton, M.D., M.B.A., has completed his residency and is now
a staff physician in emergency medicine at Southwest Washington Medical
Center in Vancouver, Washington.
