BEEFING UP RESOURCES FOR PROCESSING<br />
OF <strong>ECHS</strong> APPLICATIONS<br />
1. <strong>ECHS</strong> membership applications from Ex Servicemen who retired prior to 01 Apr 2003 are<br />
processed by respective Station Headquarters. The scheme is gradually expanding and the No of<br />
applications being recd are on the rise. Medical treatment to Non-<strong>ECHS</strong> members at Service<br />
Hospitals will not be available after 31 Mar 2008. Supreme Court Judgement exempting pre 01 Jan<br />
1996 retirees from paying contribution to join <strong>ECHS</strong> is also being implemented. Therefore considering<br />
the above the No of applications is likely to further increase in the near future.<br />
2. In order to overcome the problem, the resources at Stn HQ for the purpose need to be beefed<br />
up for the next 6 to 8 months wherever required. Therefore necessary instructions may please be<br />
given to all concerned.<br />
