on the home row approach. In this course, the Micro Type with Check-<br />

Pro s<strong>of</strong>tware application is utilized which includes skill-building tools,<br />

interactive games for reinforcement, and useful references.<br />

Multimedia Internet safety presentations tailored for specific audiences<br />

will be used to introduce cyber bullying. Students will participate in<br />

various discussions related to internet safety such as: warning signs,<br />

cyber bullying, and how to prevent self-exploitation.<br />

XX<br />

Computer Applications 7<br />

(7th Grade: 9-Week Daily Course)<br />

This class will build on basic keyboarding skills and familiarize students<br />

with word processing and presentation s<strong>of</strong>tware. The students<br />

will complete project based assignments using up to date s<strong>of</strong>tware.<br />

Computer Applications will help to prepare students for the high school<br />

level computer classes as well as provide real world experience. Micros<strong>of</strong>t<br />

Word and Power Point applications are used in conjunction with<br />

the Introductory Office 2010 textbook.<br />

Students will expand their knowledge on Internet safety through the<br />

topic <strong>of</strong> digital citizenship. Through a series <strong>of</strong> Common Sense Media<br />

lessons, students will explore how digital media plays a role in their<br />

lives as well as compare and contrast the positive and negative practices.<br />

Computer Applications 8<br />

(8th Grade: 9-Week Daily Course)<br />

Students will continue to use basic keyboarding skills while learning<br />

publication and spreadsheet applications for production. Project based<br />

assignments are used that simulate real world experiences. Computer<br />

Applications will help prepare students for the high school level computer<br />

classes as well as provide real world experience. Micros<strong>of</strong>t Excel<br />

and Publisher applications are used in conjunction with the Introductory<br />

Office 2010 textbook.<br />

MAMS<br />

Students will use evaluation tools to test trustworthy sources <strong>of</strong> information<br />

for research.<br />

Students will continue to expand their Internet knowledge on research<br />

and information literacy, Internet privacy, and future consequences <strong>of</strong> a<br />

digital trail.<br />
