In this course, the Micro Type with Check- Pro software application is utilized which includes skill-building tools, interactive games for reinforcement, and useful references. Multimedia Internet safety presentations tailored for specific audiences will be used to introduce cyber bullying. Students will participate in various discussions related to internet safety such as: warning signs, cyber bullying, and how to prevent self-exploitation. XX Computer Applications 7 (7th Grade: 9-Week Daily Course) This class will build on basic keyboarding skills and familiarize students with word processing and presentation software. The students will complete project based assignments using up to date software. Computer Applications will help to prepare students for the high school level computer classes as well as provide real world experience. Microsoft Word and Power Point applications are used in conjunction with the Introductory Office 2010 textbook. Students will expand their knowledge on Internet safety through the topic of digital citizenship. Through a series of Common Sense Media lessons, students will explore how digital media plays a role in their lives as well as compare and contrast the positive and negative practices. XX Computer Applications 8 (8th Grade: 9-Week Daily Course) Students will continue to use basic keyboarding skills while learning publication and spreadsheet applications for production. Project based assignments are used that simulate real world experiences. Computer Applications will help prepare students for the high school level computer classes as well as provide real world experience. Microsoft Excel and Publisher applications are used in conjunction with the Introductory Office 2010 textbook. MAMS Students will use evaluation tools to test trustworthy sources of information for research. Students will continue to expand their Internet knowledge on research and information literacy, Internet privacy, and future consequences of a digital trail. Page 32

These areas will include manufacturing, construction, transportation, and communication. Students will work alone and with groups to problem solve, design, develop, and assess the impacts of technology. Projects and areas of study will include, but are not limited to, problem solving activities and robotics. XX Technology Education 7 (7th Grade: 9-Week Daily Course) Students will actively engage in STEM projects and theory which will involve 21st century technology and skills in multiple areas of concentration. These areas will include manufacturing, construction, transportation, and communication. Students will work alone and with groups to problem solve, design, develop, and assess the impacts of technology. Projects and areas of study will include, but are not limited to, green construction/sustainable energy, robotics, 3-D rapid prototyping, and 3-D modeling/solid rendering through the use of CADD programs and manufacturing. XX Technology Education 8 (8th Grade: 9-Week Daily Course) Students will actively engage in STEM projects and theory which will involve 21st century technology and skills in multiple areas of concentration. These areas will include manufacturing, construction, transportation, and communication. Students will work alone and with groups to problem solve, design, develop, and assess the impacts of technology. Projects and areas of study will include, but are not limited to, 3-D rapid prototyping, video production, materials processing, and 3-D modeling/ solid rendering through the use of CADD programs and manufacturing.
