14. ON TO THE 21ST CENTURY<br />
(1995-Present)<br />
Subsequent to the 75th Anniversary, at the 1996 Dallas Congress, Todd Lakin became the first member <strong>of</strong> Delta<br />
Theta Chapter to receive the National Thomas Arkle Clark Award, which recognizes the top undergraduate ΑΤΩ in<br />
the Nation. Brother Lakin received the specially-commissioned TAC Ring and Certificate and was the Keynote Speaker<br />
at the Closing Banquet.<br />
The Dallas Congress also saw Delta Theta receive the True Merit Award (as one <strong>of</strong> nine outstanding chapters in<br />
the Nation), the Anderson Gold Award (top National communications award), National Honorable Mention for the<br />
Community Awareness Award, and National Runner-Up for the Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Award (Joe<br />
Stein). Bill Muir was re-elected to the National Board <strong>of</strong> Directors; and Chapter President Cary Majors was elected as<br />
one <strong>of</strong> two undergraduate members <strong>of</strong> the National Board <strong>of</strong> Directors. The day after the closing <strong>of</strong> the Congress, the<br />
National Board <strong>of</strong> Directors re-elected Brother Muir as National Secretary (Worthy Grand Scribe) and selected Brother<br />
Majors as National Sergeant-at-Arms (Worthy Grand Usher).<br />
During 1997, the A<strong>of</strong>f-year@ between Congresses, Delta Theta was honored at the National Awards Banquet on<br />
November 14, 1997, in Indianapolis, by receiving more awards than any other chapter in the Nation: The True Merit<br />
Award (as one <strong>of</strong> five outstanding ΑΤΩ chapters), the Anderson Gold Award (top National communications award),<br />
National Runner-Up for the Thomas Arkle Clark Award (Joe Stein), National First Runner-Up for the Community<br />
Awareness Award, and National Runner-Up (Jon Freeman) and National At-Large Award (Guy Gross) for the<br />
Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Awards.<br />
At the 1998 Orlando Congress, Delta Theta Chapter was the first chapter in the Nation to receive the National<br />
Top Chapter Award, which recognized the best chapter <strong>of</strong> ΑΤΩ in the Nation. The Chapter received what will<br />
someday be called AThe Muir Cup@ in honor <strong>of</strong> Chapter Advisor William L. Muir III. The Orlando Congress also saw<br />
Delta Theta receive the True Merit Award (as one <strong>of</strong> twelve outstanding chapters in the Nation), the Anderson Gold<br />
Award (top National communications award), National Honorable Mention for the Thomas Arkle Clark Award (Jon<br />
Freeman), National Honorable Mention for the Community Awareness Award, National Foundation At-Large<br />
Undergraduate Scholarship Award (Rob Bensman), and two National Foundation Graduate Scholarship winners (Jon<br />
Freeman and Guy Gross). Bill Muir was re-elected to the National Board <strong>of</strong> Directors; and the day after the closing <strong>of</strong><br />
the Congress, the National Board <strong>of</strong> Directors re-elected Brother Muir as National Secretary (Worthy Grand Scribe).<br />

October 16, 1999, in Indianapolis, by receiving more awards than any other chapter in the Nation. The Chapter repeated<br />
as recipient <strong>of</strong> the National Top Chapter Award, which recognized the best chapter <strong>of</strong> ΑΤΩ in the Nation. They were<br />
also recognized with The True Merit Award (as one <strong>of</strong> eighteen outstanding ΑΤΩ chapters), the Anderson Gold Award<br />
(top National communications award), National Honorable Mention for the Thomas Arkle Clark Award (Gabe Graham),<br />
National Honorable Mention for the Community Awareness Award, and National Recipient (Rob Bensman) and<br />
National At-Large Awards (Neil Adamson and Josh Brueggemann) for the Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship<br />
Awards.<br />
At the 2000 Orlando Congress, Rob Bensman became the second member <strong>of</strong> Delta Theta Chapter to receive the<br />
National Thomas Arkle Clark Award, which recognizes the top undergraduate ΑΤΩ in the Nation. Brother Bensman<br />
received the specially-commissioned TAC Ring and Certificate and was the Keynote Speaker at the Closing Banquet.<br />
Brother Bensman gave his ring to Delta Theta Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees Chairman Bill Muir.<br />
The Orlando Congress also saw Delta Theta receive the National Top Chapter Award for the third time in as<br />
many years, the True Merit Award (as one <strong>of</strong> twenty outstanding chapters in the Nation), the Anderson Gold Award (top<br />
National communications award), the Excellence in Scholarship Award (above a 3.000 GPA for the entire year),<br />
National Honorable Mention for the Good Samaritan Community Awareness Award, and National Foundation At-Large<br />
Undergraduate Scholarship Awards (Jeremy Girard and Kevin Oehme). The day after the closing <strong>of</strong> the Congress, the<br />
National Board <strong>of</strong> Directors re-elected Brother Bill Muir as National Secretary (Worthy Grand Scribe).
