Datuk Ismail started his career in 1969 as an Assistant Director<br />
of Public Services Department. After a short posting in the<br />
Ministry of Defence from 1981 to 1983, he was made Deputy<br />
Director Service Division of Public Services Department from<br />
1983 until 1988. In 1988, he was with the Ministry of Culture,<br />
Arts and Tourism as a Deputy Secretary General and as Secretary<br />
General in 1995. He then assumed his last position as Secretary<br />
General of Ministry of Health Malaysia from 1999 until 2000.<br />
He has extensive experience in general management, project<br />
management, hospitality, tourism, cultural and arts management<br />
and health and medical administration. He was appointed Director<br />
and a member of the Audit Committee of S P <strong>Setia</strong> <strong>Berhad</strong> on<br />
19 December 2001. On 21 September 2005, he was appointed<br />
as a member of the Remuneration Committee. Subsequently<br />
on 2 October 2006, he was appointed as a Chairman of the<br />
Nomination Committee.<br />
He does not have any family relationship with any Director and/or<br />
major shareholder, nor any conflict of interest with the Company.<br />
He has no convictions for any offences over the past 10 years.<br />
Mr Ng had several years of experience in the accounting<br />
profession with Coopers & Lybrand in London and Kuala Lumpur<br />
before moving on to the financial sector in 1980. Prior to joining<br />
Alliance Bank Malaysia <strong>Berhad</strong> in July 1991 as General Manager<br />
of Credit, he had served in various positions in a leading local<br />
merchant bank and a finance company.<br />
He was appointed as Chief Executive Director of Alliance Bank<br />
Malaysia <strong>Berhad</strong> on 21 January 1994 and to the Board of Alliance<br />
Merchant Bank <strong>Berhad</strong> on 22 July 2002 until his resignation on<br />
31 August 2005. He was appointed a Director, a member of the<br />
Audit Committee and a member of the Nomination Committee of<br />
S P <strong>Setia</strong> <strong>Berhad</strong> on 21 September 2005.<br />
He also sits on the Boards of Deutsche Bank (M) <strong>Berhad</strong> and<br />
Unico-Desa Plantations <strong>Berhad</strong>.<br />
He does not have any family relationship with any Director and/or<br />
major shareholder, nor any conflict of interest with the Company.<br />
He has no convictions for any offences over the past 10 years.
