A shared commitment to serving patients<br />
Since 1986, the Nebraska Medical Center of Omaha has been sharing with Sodexo its commitment to patients.<br />
To differentiate the Center in an extremely competitive marketplace, and to fi eld test the Patient Experience<br />
model, Sodexo bolstered the partnership by making it a Patient Experience Pilot Account.<br />
“Well-being” services<br />
In 2005, the Nebraska Medical Center (689 beds) became<br />
a pilot account in Sodexo’s “Patient Experience” program.<br />
For one year, Sodexo introduced new services including<br />
Housekeeping Upon Request and the expansion<br />
of Sodexo’s At Your Request-Room Service Dining ®<br />
patient dining program, now available at any time of<br />
the day or night. The use of touchscreens to facilitate<br />
communication is being tested. Also, for the fi rst time,<br />
Foodservices and Facilities Management teams were<br />
given joint training under a new program called CARES*.<br />
Making the difference - together<br />
Sodexo’s leading-edge programs help Nebraska Medical<br />
Center market their services and stand out from their<br />
competitors. In exchange, Sodexo has gained a “living<br />
laboratory” to test its new services and survey the<br />
satisfaction of patients and staff. Sodexo has become<br />
a genuine partner in the hospital’s strategic plan.<br />
The “Patient Experience” program has solidifi ed<br />
the partnership in a “win-win” situation, as Bud Tice,<br />
Administrator of Physician Relations, emphasizes:<br />
“Sodexo employees are showcase quality… all are<br />
engaged and contributing to the success of Sodexo<br />
and the Nebraska Medical Center.”<br />
