5 Explain to participants the importance <strong>of</strong> involving men in gender<br />
mainstreaming.<br />
6 Tell participants that we will explore the relationships between the<br />
concepts and development in the following sessions.<br />
7 Ask if participants have any questions and answer them.<br />
8 Distribute the handouts either during or at the end <strong>of</strong> the session<br />
depending on time constraints.<br />
9 Show participants the objectives <strong>of</strong> the session again, check that these<br />
have been achieved, and conclude with thanks to all.<br />
Review<br />
1 Ask two male and two female participants to suggest an indicator that<br />
would be useful to assess the progress <strong>of</strong> gender mainstreaming in<br />
their institution/organisation.<br />
2 Summarise the session by showing participants the learning outcomes<br />
and checking if participants consider that these have been achieved.<br />
Learning Outcomes for Participants<br />
1 Participants will be able to describe the meaning <strong>of</strong> gender<br />
mainstreaming and gender equity and their relationship to achieving<br />
gender equality.<br />
2 Participants will be able to identify monitoring indicators to measure the<br />
progress <strong>of</strong> gender mainstreaming in organisations<br />
3 Participants will recognise the importance <strong>of</strong> involving both men and<br />
women in development.<br />
