1 To allow participants to express their views on gender needs.<br />
2 To identify the two types <strong>of</strong> gender needs.<br />
3 To relate these needs to women’s and men’s lives.<br />
4 To allow participants to analyse and relate the issue to their own lives<br />
and work.<br />

Preparation<br />
1 Read the handout and procedures carefully before the session so that<br />
you are thoroughly familiar with the subject matter and proposed<br />
methodology.<br />
2 Prepare a set <strong>of</strong> photographs that show men and women in different<br />
roles – two traditional roles and two non-traditional roles for both men<br />
and women.<br />
3 Prepare sufficient photocopies <strong>of</strong> the two handouts to distribute to each<br />
participant.<br />
4 Write the objectives <strong>of</strong> the session on a flipchart.<br />
Procedures<br />
1 Briefly share the objectives <strong>of</strong> the session on the flipchart with<br />
participants.<br />
2 Recap briefly the previous session on gender roles. Draw out the<br />
different gender roles that women and men have to perform. Discuss<br />
the overburdening <strong>of</strong> women and their triple roles.<br />
3 Divide the participants into four groups.<br />
4 Distribute a selection <strong>of</strong> photographs <strong>of</strong> four types <strong>of</strong> work performed<br />
by women and men to each <strong>of</strong> the four groups. In the photographs<br />
