Luba Sterlikova - Innergism, thru January 17.
Russian born, Ms. Sterlikova resides in the
Washington, DC area. In her works both
American and Russian influences can be
detected, as the Eastern vivid colors blend
symbiotically with more Western shapes
and structure, yielding a style described as
“sensual energy paintings” or innergism. Luba
prefers to call her work romantic, although
the artwork has often been referred to as
provocative and sexually charged. From
nebulas to ancient symbols to exotic images,
this cross-cultural art takes a viewer to a
new mental and emotional plane. Detailed
brush strokes combine with the explosive
character of the images to create constructs
of challenging contrast. She uses oil pastel,
charcoal & oil.
