Studio In-Sight of St. Luke’s House, thru January 14,
Common Ground Gallery, second floor. Featuring
“Science Fiction-Rendering Realities," a series of
paintings and drawings by Paul Spratlin shown
alongside “Recent Work” by 12 other members
of Studio In-Sight. Artists are clients of St. Luke’s
House, a non-profit Montgomery County psychiatric
rehabilitation program.

VisArts and Rockville Science Center present the
work utilizing light as an artistic medium.
Celebrating a Most Auspicious Animal: 2012 Year
of the Dragon, January 9 – 26. Works in diverse
media by artists interpreting themes related to
the Golden Dragon and celebrating this wise and
caring creature who guards the earth. Special Chinese

East West Confluence: In Celebration of the Lunar
New Year, January 19 – February 25. Kaplan Gallery,
second floor. Eight contemporary American
artists reflect the influence of Eastern and Western
ideas and identities.
Hsin-Hsi Chen: Transition, February 2 – 29. Gibbs
Street Gallery, first floor. Hsin-Hsi Chen’s extraordinary
drawings precipitate a journey across
planes of light and shadow into spaces that teeter
between illusion and reality. “Transition” marks
Chen’s experimentation with scale and surface.
Pushing beyond the intimate scale of her pencil
drawings, the work engages the space of the gallery
in ways that more fully immerse the viewer in
her world.
