are represented by region elements. Figures 4
to 7 show parts of a GrAF standoff annotation for
sentence (1) and anchors as specified in Figure 3.
The same annotation is displayed in Figure 8, by
the unfilled and dark gray nodes and the respective
edges.

Figure 4 shows a part of a segmentation into regions.
Note, that the segmentation does not cover
every base unit, as the first whitespace is not part
of any region, and that this segmentation is not the
most granular one, but fits the annotation.
