THE RESURRECTION<br />
Before discussing the resurrection, it should be<br />
<strong>me</strong>ntioned that the holiday of Easter, the<br />
supposedly day of Jesus' resurrection was<br />
originally a pagan festival honoring Eostre, a<br />
Teu<strong>to</strong>nic (Germanic) goddess of light and spring.<br />
At the ti<strong>me</strong> of the vernal equinox (the day in the<br />
spring when the sun crosses the equa<strong>to</strong>r and day<br />
and night are of equal length), sacrifices were<br />
offered in her honor. As early as the eighth<br />
century, the na<strong>me</strong> "Easter" was used <strong>to</strong> designate<br />
the annual celebration of the resurrection of<br />
Jesus. 15 Again, the Christians have taking the<br />
ignorance of paganism and associated it with<br />
Jesus.<br />
So where do Christians get the belief of the<br />
resurrection from? <strong>The</strong>y got it from the teachings<br />
of Paul (Acts 17:18). Paul, who said he was an<br />
appointed apostle by Jesus according <strong>to</strong> his own<br />
vision. He never saw Jesus, declared Jesus as the<br />
Son of God (Acts 9:20), and admitted that the<br />
resurrection was his gospel (II Timothy 2:8). So<br />
