Iraqi Higher Judicial Council had
announced, on February 21, that Tarek Al
Hashemi’s case was transferred to central
criminal court in Al Karkh reminding that
the trial in absentia will be taking place, on
May 3. We have no clue about the verdict.
It is left for the court, the council stressed.
Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi who
allegedly died due to torture.
Iraqi Vice-President Tarek Al Hashemi is
staying in Kurdistan following accusations
for terrorism against him. These
accusations were based on the
confessions, displayed by Iraqi Interior
Ministry, of a number of his bodyguards
about committing violent actions
following Hashemi’s orders. Tarek Al
Hashemi, for his part, insisted that he is
innocent and blamed the Central
Government for accusing him of crimes
committed by unknown parties.

Ministry probes into death of
Hashimi’s guard while in detention
BAGHDAD, March 23 (AKnews) – Iraq’s
Human Rights ministry is probing into the
death of one of the detained guards of
Tarq HashmiHashimi’s guards were
detained in November last year on
charges of carrying out 150 attacks on
Iraqi security forces and government
employees. An arrest warrant was also
issued against Hashimi for involvement in
the attacks.
The arrest warrant against Hashimi was
based on confessions of his guards whose
videos were displayed on state run al-
Iraqiya TV. Hashimi rejected the
allegations and said his guards were
tortured to confess.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Human
Rights Kamil Amin told AKnews that “we
are looking into the death of one of
Hashimi’s guards.. We will take our
procedures in all cases relating to death of
