Nishgoy. The Zindan village contains more
than 50 families. However, this figure gradually
declined as some families migrated to Bakuba
or the capital Baghdad which is located
110 kilometers away. Chechens in Zindan
village are in a close relationship with their
Chechen and Dagestani relatives in neighboring
countries, especially such as Syria and Jordan.
Prominent figures of these families in the
village might be listed as; Murat Aga, Sulaiman
by armed groups on 16-17 September
2007. 36 families living in the village left their
homes and split into neighboring cities. The
armed groups which attacked against the village
totally destroyed the whole village. It is
claimed that the attack was carried out by the
Beni Temim Tribe, an Arab tribe in Diyala.
After the attack, the Chechen tribes living
in Al-Hamidiya village sent a letter to Beni
Temim Tribe and condemned these attacks.
