ORSAM: Could you give us more detailed
information about the activities of Al-Tadamun?
Which activities did you carry out when
and where? What is your financial resource
to carry out these activities? Are there any
political party, public organization or nongovernmental
organization affiliated to different
ethnic and religious groups with which
you are in cooperation and have carried out
joined organizations? If so, which activities
have you carried out?
Ahmad Katav: Al-Tadamun have carried out
some limited activities since its establishment.
Because we were scared due to the lack
of security in Iraq. I can explain some of these
as follows:
2) We organized the second congress of Al-
Tadamun in Kirkuk. We elected the administrative
board in the congress, and also introduced
the ethnic identity of the North Caucasus
to participants, and also we dealt with
the modern and contemporary history. Many
participants from other ethnic and religious
groups attended to our congress. Attendants
stated they admired Circassians and their
great history.
3) We organized training courses for the development
of the members of Al-Tadamun
society. We carried out activities for our
members to teach and inform about their native
language, history, customs and traditions.
We strived to teach the Khabze culture, which
is the national tradition of Adyghes.
4) We have distributed food throughout Ramadan
for the last three years. We provided
food and financial support for Circassian
families and also the families from other ethnic
and religious groups with low-income in
Kirkuk.
5) We have distributed stationery and clothing
to orphan children in some schools for the
last two years.
6) We distributed winter coats and training
suits to orphan and poor children in some
schools in Kirkuk for three years. They were
distributed for three times. It was carried out
in the charge of Dr. Ahmad Katav during the
Feast of Sacrifice, and it was announced on
media by Turkmeneli TV.
1) We paid a visit to Maykop, capital of the
Republic of Adyghe located in Northwestern
Caucasus in the Russian Federation. We
reserved a certain quota for children who
would like to complete their studies in Adyghe.
We are going to finance the expenses of
students. 4 students have already been studying
in Maykop through our means.
7) We organize trips to introduce Al-Tadamun.
We paid visits to the Circassian Charity
Association in Jordan and also the Circassian
Charity Association in Syria. In Turkey,
we visited North Caucasian associations and
federations in İstanbul, Ankara, Kayseri and
Düzce. We introduced our society there, and
attended some meetings and conferences
held in İstanbul and Ankara. I personally attended
most of these conferences, and paid
the expenses from my own pocket.
8) We are planning to open courses to teach
Adyghe language in Kirkuk. We cannot open
