<strong>Alberta</strong> <strong>Injury</strong> <strong>Control</strong> Strategy and work with other provincial<br />
governments and the federal government in implementing<br />
national injury control frameworks and strategies.<br />
Formulate and approve a policy statement that injury is a major<br />
health and safety issue.<br />
Support community-based service delivery in injury control<br />
through the provision of adequate human, financial and material<br />
resources to appropriate stakeholder groups.<br />
Provide and support opportunities <strong>for</strong> public and private<br />
investment in research and injury prevention and control<br />
strategies.<br />
Assume primary responsibility to develop and implement a<br />
provincial injury surveillance system, track and monitor injuries,<br />
taking action to reduce areas of high risk.<br />
Provide the means and enabling structures to conduct and/or<br />
support research on injury, its risk factors and causes, and injury<br />
control practices.<br />
Provide the means and enabling structures to support evaluation<br />
of injury control programs and services.<br />
Formulate, implement and en<strong>for</strong>ce legislation and regulations<br />
directed at the health and safety of the public, employers and<br />
employees.<br />
Provide the means and support needed to enhance interministerial<br />
collaboration in targeting best practices in injury<br />
control in all Ministry plans and activities.<br />
Provide policy guidance and support to <strong>for</strong>mulate guidelines to<br />
promote accurate and comprehensive media reporting on<br />
