The reasons for the reduction in the total number of Paid <strong>Government</strong> <strong>Boards</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>Committees</strong> (519) since 1 June 2009 to those to be included on the Register of <strong>Government</strong><br />

boards <strong>and</strong> committees (332) as of <strong>21</strong> <strong>September</strong> <strong>2012</strong> are presented below.<br />

Categories<br />

Abolished/Ceased - boards or committees which have been formally<br />

abolished by Cabinet or ceased operations (i.e. not operating <strong>and</strong> not<br />

expected to operate again).<br />

Departmental Committee a committee established by an agency which<br />

was not required to be submitted to Cabinet for approval to establish.<br />

Sub-Committee a sub-committee except where the sub-committee has one<br />

or more external members (who are not already a member of the parent<br />

board or committee) who receive remuneration for their services (other than<br />

reimbursements for travel expenses).<br />

Duplicate / Error the board or committee is a duplicate or has been<br />

included in the list in error, such as a national committee in which State<br />

<strong>Government</strong> representatives participate.<br />

Operated Locally - Unpaid a board or committee which is operated<br />

locally, whose members are not paid <strong>and</strong> which was not required to be<br />

submitted to Cabinet for approval to establish.<br />
