1.3 Recommendations
The review of Government boards and committees by the Commission makes the following
recommendations to Government.
Recommendation 1
That the Government notes the results of the Commission's verification and
reconciliation of the current list of Government boards and committees and those
reported to exist in June 2009.
Recommendation 2
That the Government approves publication of the resulting Register of Government
boards and committees established by this review. (Appendix 1.)
Recommendation 3
That the relevant portfolios take action to abolish the identified Government boards
and committees.
Recommendation 4
That the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and the Commission establish a
memorandum of understanding or other appropriate arrangements to clarify the joint
management of matters related to Government boards and committees.
Recommendation 5
That the Department of the Premier and Cabinet develop and propose amendments to
the Cabinet Handbook and the template for Cabinet Submissions relating to the
establishment, changing or terminating of Government boards and committees; and
changes to membership of Government boards and committees, to ensure that all
required information to keep an accurate database of records for each Government
board or committee is explicit in each Cabinet Submission.
