MAKONI WEST CONSTITUENCY

western boundary of Inyamidzi; thence south-eastwards and eastwards along
western boundary of Inyamidzi and the western and southern boundaries of
Big Tree of Chikobvore, so as to exclude them to the intersection of the latter
boundary by the Kayeredzi River, and down the Kayeredzi and Sungwizi
rivers to the intersection of the latter river by the south-western and northern
boundaries of Lovedale and south-eastwards and westwards along the southwestern
and northern boundaries of Lovedale and Eversley Manse, so as to
exclude them, to the Save River; thence up the Save, Macheke, Ruzawi and
Chizawana Rivers to the south-western boundary of Dowa Small Scale
Commercial Land and generally north-westwards and north-eastwards along
the south-western and north-western boundaries of Dowa Small Scale
Commercial Land, so as to include it, to the starting point.
Makoni West constituency is made up of fourteen wards. Like most
constituencies, the ward councillor’s seats are dominated by males. Females
constitute only 14% of the total ward seats in the Makoni West constituency.
The constituency has 40 695 registered voters. There is at least a primary
school in each ward, and every ward has at least a secondary school save for
ward 35 which does not have any schools. Most wards have more than 1
school and there is an even distribution of health facilities and dip tanks.
However projects sponsored by the Ministry of Youth, Gender and
Employment Creation (Ministry of Gender) are absent in 6 wards of the
constituency, thus, there is need to also economically empower the residents
of wards without these projects by making ensuring that they can also access
the funds.
