WARNING ! Very limited diagnostic access on some models… Know your
limitations & and also when you can help a customer:
This is one of the few Xerox styles on which access to diagnostic functions is severely limited (on
some models). If you do not have a PWS-laptop (Portable Workstation), with the licensed software
for the particular model you’re working on, there are some things you simply can not do.
Resetting Counters:
All Models:
• Drum Counts all reset automatically when you replace the Drum Cartridge (or the Drum
Reset CRUM Connector)… make sure you use the right ctg or CRUM for your particular
model since the CRUMs are not interchangeable.
• Toner Waste Container Reset : Clear any pending jobs from the machine’s memory and
then replace the Waste Container… the machine is supposed to see that the new Waste
Container is in fact empty and it will reset by itself.
For M24, DC-1632, 2240, 3535…
• Fuser Module: Hold down the ‘9’ and the ‘AC’ buttons simultaneously. Select “Yes”
when the machine asks if you replaced the fuser.
• Belt Cleaner Assembly (Requires PWS to Reset !)
• Transfer Roller Assembly (2 nd BTR Roll) (Requires PWS to Reset !)
For C2128, C2636, C3545
• Fuser Module – Reset from User Tools … read below.
• Belt Cleaner Assembly - Reset from User Tools… read below.
• Transfer Roller Assembly (2 nd BTR Roll) - Reset from User Tools... read below.
Resetting Counters from “USER TOOLS MODE”: To get into the “User Tools” mode,
Press the ‘Access’ button. Then use the default User Password ‘1111’ (4 ones) and press
‘Login’. Press ‘More’, and then look for “Supply Management”… Select the part who’s counter
you want to reset and follow the prompts (it’ll ask you if you replaced the part, touch ‘Yes’).
For WC-7328,7335,7345,7346
• Fuser Module – Resets automatically by replacing either the fuser module, or fuses on
the fuser module, read Fuser Reconditioning Instructions on our website for more info.
• Belt Cleaner Assembly - Reset from User Tools… read below.
• Transfer Roller Assembly (2 nd BTR Roll) - Reset from User Tools... read below.
Resetting Counters from “USER TOOLS MODE”: To get into the “User Tools” mode,
pPress the ‘Access’ button. Then use the default User Password ‘11111’ (5 ones) and press
‘Login’. Press ‘More’, and then look for “Supply Management”… Select the part who’s counter
you want to reset and follow the prompts (it’ll ask you if you replaced the part, touch ‘Yes’).
UI Diagnostics (User Interface). Some models allow access from the control panel.
For M24, DC-1632, 2240, & 3535: UI diagnostics are available but are extremely limited. You
CAN reset NVM settings but you can not run Component Control tests on these models.
From the ready screen, hold down the ‘0’ button for at least 5 seconds and then while continuing to
hold down ‘0’, press ‘Start’. Use the password : ‘6789’. Then press the ‘Machine Status’ button
which brings up “Tools” mode. Press “Maintenance/Diagnostics” and browse the on-screen menus.
For C2128, C2636, C3545, C32/40, M32/40, Pro32/40: All diagnostics Require use of a PWS !
For 7328, 7335, 7345, 7346: UI Diagnostics ARE available and fully functional… NVM (memory
adjustments) & Component Control tests work from the control panel (Thank Goodness !) Read the
procedure above for the M24, DC-1632 etc. for how to enter UI diagnostics.
Resetting some Faults: Some faults will not clear until you enter “UI Diagnostics” (find
your model above for details), and go to “Memory Settings” to reset a memory code back to “0”.
For fault 04-356 (Belt Home Position Failure)… Reset NVM location ‘741-056’ to ‘0’
For faults 10-348 or 10-350 (Fuser Overheat Codes)… Reset NVM location ‘744-003’ to ‘0’
For faults 09-380 thru 09-383 (ATC failures)… Reset NVM locations 752-109 thru 752-112 to ‘0’.
