Porsches on Parade in Laguna Niguel

Our club has participated in the Laguna
Niguel Holiday Parade for many years.
I have been lucky enough to organize
our participation in this event since
2002. Every year our members enter
approximately 18 cars. We are only
allowed 12, but I can’t resist including as
many cars as possible.
On more than one occasion, a
member has told me that I can “herd
cats,” after seeing how I herd our group
through the starting gate.
I try to enter Porsches from different
years and different models. I have yet to
have a Carrera GT show up. I came close
this last year, but the GT owner cancelled
at the last minute.
We had 19 cars enter the 2008 parade,
which touts itself as being the second

can believe it considering we did not
have to check in until 10:40 am and the
parade started at 10:00 am! Our group
was entry number 96!
The parade lasted approximately two
hours from start to finish. A small group
of us drove to Las Brisas Restaurant in
La-guna Beach for a nice lunch. I took
this opportunity to present the 2008 Male
Enthusiast of the Year award to Buzzy
Klevens who participated in the parade.
For those of you who did not hear this
yet, Kari Knudson won the 2008 Female
Enthusiast of the Year award, which I
presented to her during our end of the
year Holiday Party.
I look forward once again in entering
our club next December in Laguna
Niguel’s parade. I will ask for volunteers
in November. Hopefully I will get that
elusive Carrera GT to show up.
