2) After selecting the “Auto Self Test“ function from the PCM Functions menu the<br />

scanner will begin to display several warning messages. Review these messages<br />

and be certain their instructions are followed.<br />

3) When the warning messages have been displayed, you may begin the Auto Self<br />

Test by pressing the YES key. This action will initiate a series of engine actuator<br />

and sensor tests. The entire testing process may take several minutes to complete.<br />

While the Auto Self Test is in progress the scanner’s display will indicate the type<br />

of test being performed.<br />

To Abort the Auto Self Test at any time, press and hold the<br />

scanner’s NO key.<br />

4) When the Auto Self Test has completed, the scanner will automatically<br />

interrogate the PCM’s fault code memory and report any errors that have<br />

occurred. A successful self test will report no errors.<br />

PCM Function - Output Tests<br />

The Output Test menu provides a technician with the ability to exercise various PCM<br />

actuators and controls in order to verify correct operation.<br />

Available output tests are:<br />

Fuel Injectors<br />

Fuel Pump Relay<br />

Ignition Coils<br />

Warning Horn<br />

Tach Output<br />

The sections presented on the following pages will provide specific details on each<br />

output test.<br />
