THE VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL COMMITTEE invites you to celebrate<br />
<strong>the</strong> success of our 2011 program with a Doughnut Sunday following <strong>the</strong><br />
9:30am mass this Sunday, August 7. Hopefully <strong>the</strong> children, teens and<br />
adults who participated in <strong>the</strong> program can wear <strong>the</strong>ir VBS shirts to mass<br />

Fall Bible Study for Women<br />
The CTK Adult Faith Formation Committee will be hosting a fall study for<br />
women called A Biblical Walk Through <strong>the</strong> Mass by Dr. Edward Sri. If<br />
you’ve ever wondered why we say what we say and do what we do during<br />
<strong>the</strong> Liturgy, this is <strong>the</strong> study for you! You will go deep into <strong>the</strong> Scriptural<br />
roots of <strong>the</strong> Mass and <strong>com</strong>e to understand its beauty and richness like<br />
never before. This study is based on <strong>the</strong> new translation of <strong>the</strong> Mass <strong>com</strong>ing<br />
out this Advent. It will run for 5 weeks from 9:15am to 11:00am on<br />
Thursday mornings beginning September 15th. Cost of <strong>the</strong> materials will<br />
be approximately $18.00. Babysitting will be available at <strong>the</strong> school. To<br />

TODAY’S READINGS<br />
First Reading: The Lord said to Elijah: “Stand on <strong>the</strong> mountain; <strong>the</strong> Lord<br />
will be passing by” (1 <strong>King</strong>s 10:9a, 11-13a).<br />
Psalm: Lord, let us see your kindness and grant us your salvation (Psalm<br />
85).<br />
Second Reading: To <strong>the</strong> Israelites belong <strong>the</strong> covenants, <strong>the</strong> law, and<br />
<strong>the</strong> patriarchs: and from <strong>the</strong>m <strong>com</strong>es <strong>the</strong> <strong>Christ</strong> (Romans 9:1-5).<br />
Gospel: As Jesus walked on <strong>the</strong> sea, <strong>the</strong> disciples were terrified. But at<br />
once Jesus said to <strong>the</strong>m, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid” (Mat<strong>the</strong>w<br />
14:22-33).
