THE VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL COMMITTEE invites you to celebrate the success of our 2011 program with a Doughnut Sunday following the 9:30am mass this Sunday, August 7. Hopefully the children, teens and adults who participated in the program can wear their VBS shirts to mass that morning. Thank you—Theresa Fall Bible Study for Women The CTK Adult Faith Formation Committee will be hosting a fall study for women called A Biblical Walk Through the Mass by Dr. Edward Sri. If you’ve ever wondered why we say what we say and do what we do during the Liturgy, this is the study for you! You will go deep into the Scriptural roots of the Mass and come to understand its beauty and richness like never before. This study is based on the new translation of the Mass coming out this Advent. It will run for 5 weeks from 9:15am to 11:00am on Thursday mornings beginning September 15th. Cost of the materials will be approximately $18.00. Babysitting will be available at the school. Second Reading: To the Israelites belong the covenants, the law, and the patriarchs: and from them comes the Christ (Romans 9:1-5). Gospel: As Jesus walked on the sea, the disciples were terrified. Fri., Aug 19: ATTENTION SCHOOL FAMILIES AND PRE-SCHOOL FAMILIES All tuition and service fees for school and tuition for preschool for the upcoming school year 2011-12 need to be taken care of as soon as possible.. We will not be collecting any monies on Registration Day. If you are paying by check or credit card please make your payments at the Parish Office during office hours. Call ahead to make certain there will be someone available to take care of your payment. SCRIP ORDERS: First day for all students grades K-8. 11:15am dismissal. Preachers often talk about great signs signaling major events. We hear stories about saints who performed miracles or had wondrous visions. So perhaps, it is understandable that we expect God to be accompanied by some sort of obvious fanfare and drama. The story of Elijah listening for the Lord, reminds us that God is most likely to come in a “tiny whispering sound.” Are you learning to listen more closely so that you can hear the Lord’s “tiny whispers?” What can you do to improve your hearing? I will hear who God proclaims: The Lord—for he proclaims peace. —-Psalm 85:9 “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” No matter how strong the winds, Jesus is there to take our hands and guide our marriage. The next Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend in this area is September 23rd through the 25th. Early registration is highly recommended. To register or for more information call 888-889-9963 Breakfast Benefit for St. Clare’s Clinic An all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will be held on Sunday, August 14 from 8am until noon at Knights of Columbus Council 364 located at 2200 Meadowbrook Rd. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12, and kids five and under are free. Proceeds will benefit Catholic Charities’ St. Clare’s Health Clinic.
