As branch officials, Steve and
Desperate have never sought the
limelight, but have worked under the
radar to ensure members’ rights are
recognised.
Denis, too, has worked tirelessly as a
sub-branch secretary, in establishing
the Goodna sub-branch, and in
establishing the Legal Unit in his
position as Assistant General Secretary.
In the past, the awarding of QPU
Life Membership has generally been
reserved for Executive officials, but these
PURSUING POLICE PURSUIT POLICY
We all breathed a sigh of relief last
November when it was announced
that a review of the police pursuit
policy would take place. Six months
later, we still haven’t heard anything,
and are finding pursuing the review
almost as difficult as deciphering the
pursuit policy itself.

in the middle of the night), driven countless
kilometres, and attended countless interviews
to provide whatever support is required for
members.”
It’s time for the QPS to properly
reconsider the ramifications of the
current policy, and to work with us in
delivering a new policy that provides
a workable balance of safety and
efficiency.
