LECARROW VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT
Schools Project
As part of the community consultation for
this VDS, a schools project was run with
the help from the students and teachers of
St John’s National School and Glanduff
National School. The schoolchildren were
asked to describe and draw pictures of their
village. Its very important that the local
children have an opportunity to contribute
to this VDS, as one local child wrote “I
think its really cool that I get a say in the
future of my village”.
Things we like:
• There is a sign that welcomes people to
Lecarrow and tells them about
facilities such as the harbour, Rinn
Dúin Castle, St John’s School etc.
• The village has improved over the
years because of its flowers and
greenery.
• Lecarrow is always quiet and peaceful,
and is a clean and tidy village thanks to
the local people.
• Lecarrow is a small, friendly village
with beautiful attractions for tourists.
• Walking in St John’s Wood and
Rindoon Castle.
• Visiting Mountplunkett Water Reserve.
• Feeding the ducks and swans at the
harbour and visiting St John’s Well,
especially in the Summer.
