c<strong>on</strong>sider if <strong>the</strong> decisi<strong>on</strong> to place her into residential care at that stage <strong>of</strong> her<br />

pathway was in her best interests or if she required a more robust form <strong>of</strong><br />

interventi<strong>on</strong>.<br />

During her interview Joan said she wanted <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essi<strong>on</strong>als to "listen to <strong>the</strong><br />

reas<strong>on</strong>s behind what I was doing". The fact that she did not feel listened to<br />

had aggravated her inner chaos, which in turn promoted <strong>the</strong> <strong>on</strong>going risk<br />

taking behaviour. One key reflecti<strong>on</strong> from Joan's pathway is that <strong>the</strong> two<br />

services she did engage with involved pr<strong>of</strong>essi<strong>on</strong>als who carried out direct<br />

work with her in <strong>the</strong> children's home. Her descripti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> a service that failed to<br />

"listen to <strong>the</strong> reas<strong>on</strong>s behind what I was doing" is an insightful reflecti<strong>on</strong> into<br />

<strong>the</strong> type <strong>of</strong> service that Joan felt she needed but did not receive.<br />

Outcome <strong>of</strong> Restricti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> Liberty Panel<br />

Joan was presented to <strong>the</strong> panel within six weeks <strong>of</strong> being placed in <strong>the</strong><br />

children's home <strong>and</strong> was placed in secure accommodati<strong>on</strong> two days later.<br />

Secure Accommodati<strong>on</strong> Order<br />

Joan spent six weeks in secure accommodati<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> was subsequently<br />

admitted to a l<strong>on</strong>g term children's home. She went <strong>on</strong> to have a sec<strong>on</strong>d<br />

admissi<strong>on</strong> to secure care before returning to <strong>the</strong> same l<strong>on</strong>g term children's<br />

home.<br />
