Renown Pianist Kevin Ayesh will perform masterpieces<br />

of Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Chopin, Beethoven,<br />

Faure and Brahms. He has performed throughout<br />

the United States and has been the head of the<br />

Music Department at Blue Ridge Community<br />

<strong>College</strong> in Flat Rock, North Carolina since 1992.<br />

Ayesh will also be giving a master class to<br />

<strong>Saddleback</strong> students on Monday, January 23rd<br />

in FA 101 at noon. Admission is Free.<br />

Gerard Hagen on piano, Jamie Rosenn on guitar,<br />

Luther Hughes on bass, Paul Johnson on drums<br />

<strong>Saddleback</strong>’s Jazz Day offers performances by<br />

the aspiring and the inspiring, a day-long event<br />

leading up to a must-hear appearance by the<br />

<strong>Saddleback</strong> Big Band and renowned jazz trumpet<br />

player Clay Jenkins. His career as a jazz artist has<br />

covered a wide-range of musical experiences,<br />

bringing him to the forefront of the jazz performing<br />

and teaching arenas. Jenkins’ experience as a<br />

performer began at an early age playing with the<br />

Stan Kenton Orchestra. He moved to Los<br />

Angeles in 1978, where he was in demand as<br />

both a live performer and studio recording musician.<br />

From Los Angeles, he toured with the big<br />

bands of Harry James, Buddy Rich and finally, the<br />

Count Basie Orchestra. Since moving to Rochester,<br />

NY to join the Eastman faculty in 2000, Jenkins<br />

has maintained a busy performing, recording and<br />

teaching schedule.<br />

Piano four hands) and Camille Saint-Saens’ humorous,<br />

witty and charismatic Carnival of the<br />

Animals — a musical tale describing characters of<br />

various animals, as well as humans, and making<br />

fun of certain musical and non-musical stereotypes<br />

with narration of a poem by Ogden Nash<br />

written specifically for the piece.<br />

Francisco Goya’s images, Los Caprichos, are<br />

a dark journey through the mindscape of the<br />

Dunn performs selections from Tedesco’s<br />

Caprichos de Goya, Op. 195, with short films<br />

based on Goya by Canadian artist Daniel<br />

Music of Two Worlds<br />

Using a large canvas storybook, dramatic<br />

lighting, ambient props, and colorful narration,<br />

guitarist and faculty member Randy Pile<br />

focuses on the music of Spain’s most famous<br />

composer of the 20th century, Joaquín<br />

Rodrigo, and the father of Brazil’s national<br />

music, Heitor Villa-Lobos.<br />
