Mission Statement Newspace Center for Photography is an educational and cultural nonprofit dedicated to promoting photographic education and appreciation to the public, as well as providing a space for building a community where photo enthusiasts can learn, create, discuss, and show their work. rental rates B&W RENTAL DARKROOM Our darkroom is equipped with eight enlargers, traditional tray development for fiber printing up to 20x24, and a print processor for dry-to-dry RC print processing in under two minutes, up to 16x20. No per-print charges. • $9 / hour - $8 /hour student rate • $75 / 10 hour block • $125 / 20 hour block • $200 / 40 hour block Blocks expire after 6 months. Chemistry is included in the prices* *$10 set up fee for 16 x 20 / $15 for 20x24 (tray processing only) 20x24 dry-mount press - $5 per hour There is a one hour minimum for darkroom rentals. RENTAL STUDIO • $35 / hour - $50 with Speedotron kit rental • $250 / day (8 hours) $325 with Speedotron kit rental • $20 / hour - student rate • $20 / use of our seamless backdrops (up to 10 ft.) Speedotron kit includes one 2401 power pack, sync chord, three heads, three umbrellas, one strip bank and one soft box. news and events Newspace is having a special photo competition with the theme of “The Affected Landscape” which will be exhibited for the month of February. The deadline for entering is Friday, December 28th. Check our website for details. Our Annual Print Auction takes place in February. The Auction is a wonderful evening full of community, beautiful photographs, and tasty hors d’oeuvres. This year, gorgeous photographs from Larry Fink, Terry Toedtemeier, Stu Levy, and other noted regional and national artists make it a very special event. Friday, February 29th 7-9pm. Hiroshi Watanabe comes to Newspace! Don’t miss the slide presentation Saturday, January 5th at 1pm with this celebrated globe-trekking photographer. Watanabe’s stunning new North Korea exhibition, “Ideology in Paradise” will open at Newspace January 4th. The exhibition is supported by a grant from the Multnomah County Cultural Coalition & Oregon Cultural Trust. Free. Iraq war photographer Joel Preston Smith will be speaking at Newspace Tuesday, February 26th at 7pm. Smith will show slides and discuss his book Night of a Thousand Stars and Other Portraits of Iraq. The lecture is sponsored by the Oregon Council for the Humanities’ Oregon Chautauqua program. Free. Newspace offers private Portfolio Reviews with notable local artists and professionals. Reviews are a wonderful chance to receive critique and advice from professionals in the field. Reviews are $65. Please call to sign up. Ann Ploeger - Wednesday, 1/30.
