Scottish Screen – Corporate Plan
Opportunities for cross working with fellow NDPBs have been progressed, in particular as we
move to Creative Scotland, with our colleagues at the SAC. This has materialised in the form
of a number of joint projects, as well as through the relocation of a number of SAC staff to
Scottish Screen offices, a service provided to SAC at no charge but undertaken as part of our
commitment to effective asset management and optimum utilisation of our premises. We
currently maximise office space utilisation through hosting a number of sector related bodies,
BAFTA Scotland, Celtic Media Festival, Skillset Scotland, Creative Loop, MG Alba and most
recently the Screen Academy Scotland. This importantly provides income but more
importantly has created a recognised and important sectoral hub. We are also currently
examining opportunities to provide support services to other bodies, to optimise resource
utilisation and also staff development and providing a useful additional income source.
In line with Scottish Screen’s role as a strategic agency and advisor to government, we
continue to acknowledge the importance of committing to significant investment in developing
our research and policy function. This resource allows us to produce ongoing, informed and
evidence based analysis of current strategic and policy issues affecting Scotland’s screen
industries. In recognising the key importance of this area, during the year we have continued
to ensure our presence and participation at key industry and policy forums, thereby ensuring
that developments within the industry in its widest sense, are reflected in our strategies but
also importantly that we contribute and where possible influence policy making at its highest
levels.
All the work and improvements we have achieved during the year have been undertaken as
part of Scottish Screen’s commitment to continual improvement and with a view to the future
and to Creative Scotland.
