Objective 1.3:<br />
Perform transmission system improvements<br />
1.3.1 Develop and implement a design strategy to mitigate fault rupture hazard to the<br />
aqueducts that cross the Rodgers Creek and the Bennett Valley faults.<br />
1.3.2 Develop and implement a design strategy to mitigate the liquefaction and lateral spread<br />
hazard at the several river and creek crossings identified in the natural hazard reliability<br />
assessment. Some of the most vulnerable include the aqueduct crossings at Russian<br />
River, Petaluma River, Mark West Creek, Santa Rosa Creek and Calabasas Creek.<br />
1.3.3 Develop and implement a design strategy to mitigate the liquefaction, lateral spread and<br />
flood hazard for the <strong>Sonoma</strong> aqueduct suspended at the two pedestrian and one traffic<br />
bridge over <strong>Sonoma</strong> Creek at Lawndale Road, Madrone Road and Verano Avenue.<br />
1.3.4 Develop and implement a design or operational strategy to mitigate lateral spread damage<br />
to the Wohler-Mirabel Intertie.<br />
1.3.5 Develop plans to relocate or parallel the pipeline that crosses beneath the Spring Lake<br />
and the Spring Lake dam.<br />
1.3.6 Develop a design or operational strategy to respond to unexpected pipeline damage<br />
within the Wohler-Mirabel area.<br />
1.3.7 Develop a long term strategy to address lower probability damage to transmission system<br />
pipelines. Due to the non-redundant nature of the transmission system such damage can<br />
be just as disruptive as that due to damage with a high probability of occurrence.<br />
Objective 1.4:<br />
Perform pumping system improvements<br />
1.4.1 Develop and implement a retrofit design for mitigation of liquefaction and lateral spread<br />
hazard at the Ely Booster station.<br />
1.4.2 Develop and implement a seismic retrofit design for the Kastania pump station building.<br />
1.4.3 Develop and implement a seismic retrofit design or replacement of the Wilfred booster<br />
station building.<br />
1.4.4 Develop and implement a design an operational solution, such as procuring large portable<br />
pumps, to mitigate the Bennett Valley fault rupture hazard to the <strong>Sonoma</strong> Booster<br />
Station.<br />
Objective 1.5:<br />
Perform storage system improvements<br />
1.5.1 Perform a piping retrofit by replacing existing rigid piping with piping with flexible<br />
joints at the storage reservoirs.<br />
1.5.2 Implement other retrofits such as removing overconstrained conditions identified in the<br />
natural hazard reliability study.<br />
