Operation <strong>of</strong> NLA<br />
Adequacy <strong>of</strong> Specialized ARFF Vehicles <strong>and</strong> Equipment<br />
Project Description:<br />
Determine <strong>and</strong> demonstrate platform type vehicle requirements for ARFF<br />
service access to upper deck <strong>of</strong> NLA. <strong>Research</strong> to include: Ability to<br />
evacuate trapped passengers in the event <strong>of</strong> slide failures. Accessibility <strong>of</strong><br />
second level to ARFF firefighters.<br />
Project Status:<br />
- Mockup completed with ‘dry side’ to facilitate vehicle testing/demonstration.<br />
- Request for Information (RFI) issued through <strong>FAA</strong> Contract <strong>Office</strong> to bring<br />
potential new technologies to mockup for demonstration – no replies to date.<br />
