ARFF – Composite Materials<br />
This research effort will focus on determining some <strong>of</strong> the<br />
unknowns <strong>of</strong> composite materials burning:<br />
• Identifying the best extinguishing agent for use on<br />
composite material fires.<br />
• Identify the best extinguishing method for composite fires.<br />
• Determine the time <strong>and</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> agent required for<br />
extinguishing composite fires.<br />
• Identify hazards associated with the toxic fumes <strong>and</strong><br />
airborne composite fibers on the respiratory systems <strong>of</strong><br />
both the evacuees <strong>and</strong> ARFF personnel.<br />
