A good year offsite with new EBA’s and more
Well, this year has been quite
successful in the off-site areas
with many of the yards getting
new EBAs or pay increases from
older ones.
One of the better ones was for our
building maintenance workers at
WA Newspapers. The crew down at
The West achieved a true 36-hour
working week and are now doing
four nine hour days on a roster that
sees them get a four day weekend
every few weeks.
A big thank you goes out to our
Shop Steward Brian Smith and the
boys for sticking together to achieve
their goals.
Not far from The West are the guys
from the City of Perth Works Depot
where our members, both building
trades and mechanics, achieved a
three year agreement with increases
of around 14%. It was a long and
drawn out process but an overall
win for our staunch members.
Thanks go to Garry and Brett for
being our reps on the EBA
committee. It was a very difficult role
at times, but they both did the best
and rewarded themselves and their
comrades.
The City of Wanneroo and the City
of Stirling also voted up new EBAs,
with the Wanneroo boys getting a
new classification structure which
was accompanied by wage rises
with yearly percentages on top.
The next cab off the rank is GCS
Rapid. We are in the process of
negotiating a new agreement and
hoping for an outcome before
Christmas.

As the year comes to an end Kaeffer, Novacoat, Interstate Cranes, Freo Cranes
and PMS (Programmed) have agreements completed.
Other companies such as Anten Cranes, Paragon Pre Cast, Cape, TCC, Boom
Logistics, Boom Sherrin and United Cranes are negotiating agreements.
We would like to congratulate the Buchan Team on their win in the election and
say goodbye and good luck to a retiring member and great delegate, Eric
Huntley. We wish Eric all the best in his retirement.
