Mixed year in the city but things looking up!
The OLD Treasury Building crew – kicking off new activity in the CBD
Well it’s no secret that the city block
has been in a hiatus for most of this
year as jobs such as Raine Square,
City Square, the Arena and Stage 1
Queens Riverside, were completed
and new projects have been
lagging. Thankfully this is all about
to change with Mirvac’s Old
Treasury Building Precinct now
getting underway. 2013 should see
more projects taking off (See Jobs
Report feature this issue).
Throughout the year there were
plenty of Blues to be had standing
up for members rights. Ceiling fixers
at Diploma’s Queens Riverside
Project had a $680,000 win in
getting back wages - all achieved
because of 100% solid membership
in the union and the support of
those involved such as PGS, Power
Plastering and Concealed Ceilings.
Once again due to 100% union
membership, workers in dispute on
Northerly’s Lime Street Project all
got their pay and entitlements. The
union was also successful in getting
workers fixed up with Hire Access at
the Perth Arena their pay and most
entitlements.
Next year there will be a big push for
flags and delegates with a backbone
to serve the interests of our
members on all jobs big and small in
the CBD. If you think you are cut out
to be a delegate, let us know.
Speaking of a new breed of
delegate, welcome aboard Adam
(Chopper) Leslie our newest
delegate on the ‘BUILT’ job within
the Treasury Precinct. Good on ya
‘Chopper’, we know you’ll keep an
eye and watch out for the boys
better than a hawk!

support in 2012 and to those who
took time out to vote in the union
elections and voted to maintain the
CFMEU as a strong militant union.
