Big victory ushers in new era
A victory for the true believers!
The Full Strength Team: Mick Buchan, Graham Pallot, Joe McDonald and Cam McCullough
Thanks to everyone who voted and
helped in the CFMEU WA C&G 2012
elections and for supporting the
Buchan Full Strength Team.
The members have spoken in the
CFMEU C&G elections 2012. While
some wilted under the Southern
Cross, the vast majority supported
the Buchan Team ticket.
Congratulations must go to both
Joe McDonald and Graham Pallot
for being overwhelmingly returned
as Assistant Secretaries with a two
thirds majority – a landslide in
anyone’s language. This victory is
also a mandate for Mick Buchan’s
leadership as our new State
Secretary.
The candidates were promoted as
part of the ‘Buchan Team’ and along
with Joe and Graham being reelected,
all Delegates to Conference
on the BUCHAN Team came up
trumps, including McDonald, Pallot,
Cam McCullough, Mat Waters and
Phil Milne.
The combined preference amount
gave victory to McDonald and Pallot
by 67% to 33% in the ballot for
Assistant Secretaries. Most votes
followed the ticket all the way
through on the ballot for Delegates
to Conference.
The combined preference
gave victory to McDonald
and Pallot by 67% to 33%
It was a clear message from the
members that they want a strong,
militant union, one that is
unencumbered from any string
pulling...willing and able to stand up
to the bosses. A victory for the ‘True
Believers!’
Now it’s time to go forward, to
continue the great work that has
already been undertaken in the past
12 months. Work such as bringing
new EBA builders back to WA,
getting new agreements signed,
standing up to builders to win
workers back their wages when
ripped off and continue to build on
the strong in-roads made into
ensuring that local jobs and training
come first.
There’s a lot of work to do as new
projects and job opportunities come
on board.
Make no mistake; your union will do
whatever it takes to get you top
wages, conditions and safety. It’s
FULL STRENGTH or nothing.
