Thank you...Now it’s full steam ahead
The election is over and whether or
not you voted, or whomever you
voted for, it is a victory for all
members and workers in our great
Industry. The smashing result has
ensured that we have a strong
militant union going forward,
working together as a united team
to achieve better outcomes – full
steam ahead!!!
We would both like to thank all
those who chose to put their faith in
a strong future for our union – the
Buchan Team. We will be proud to
serve another 4 years as your
Assistant Secretaries.
It’s also tremendous to see that all
the Buchan Team Delegates to
Conference got elected, giving us the
right blend of youth and experience
under the dynamic new leadership of
Mick Buchan. Congratulations to
Cam McCullough, Mat Waters and
Phil Milne.
Special thanks must also go to the
literally hundreds of members who
gave up their own time to help during the campaign. True sons of the Southern
Cross every one of them. Last but not least, our thanks go to the magnificent
coming together of all the national branches in a single cause to support our
new leadership and to ensure that the CFMEU in WA remains a militant and
effective union. A clear message has been sent that we are not vulnerable and
open to influences which would erode our strength.
Apprentice of the Year to Cody!
Phil Milne, our Delegate at Crown Casino,
speaks highly of young union member Cody
Hancock. “You never have to chase him for his
dues” says Phil, “he’s always paid up and proud,
and it’s great to see his work get recognised.”
19 year old Cody, a Ceiling Fixer and 3rd year
apprentice with C&L, won the Association of
Wall and Ceiling industries apprentice of the year
in WA. He went on to the National Finals and just
missed out. Well done Cody it was a top effort
and we are sure you are in line for a fantastic
future.
