Athletics continues to thrive in Staffordshire with huge steps taken in the past
twelve months through the excellent relationships with School Sport Partnerships
and clubs. Sportshall athletics in schools has been taken to ‘another level’
with fantastic development across the County in schools. Competition in
sportshall athletics is now taking place for both primary and secondary age
athletes providing a pathway to Staffordshire’s excellent athletic clubs. This
development is due to a considerable amount of planning from School Sports
Partnerships, Competition Managers, Athletics Clubs and Sportshall Associates
all of whom I thank enormously. It has been very exciting to be a part of what is
now an established and successful development for athletics.
Outside of sportshall athletics, Staffordshire athletics clubs have been providing
athletes with outstanding opportunities in their communities and their athletes’
performance at competitions reflects this. Clubs are also continuing to provide
athletic opportunities for the non-competitor with Jog England and similar
programmes thriving. As always it is a pleasure to work with such dedicated
individuals who volunteer to make this all possible. Many thanks.
