It has been a transitional 12 months in community sport following the
change of emphasis in Sport England’s latest strategy. CSPs have been
identified as playing a key role in supporting NGBs to deliver the key outcomes
of this strategy by providing a nationally agreed range of services
that all NGBs can tap into. At the same time NGBs have had to produce new
whole sport plans that articulate how they are going to deliver against Sport
England’s three key themes of Grow, Sustain and Excel. At a local level this
means that most NGBs have been working through to the end of existing
plans whilst working with Sport England to identify what resources will be
in place to support delivery in the Staffordshire and Stoke sub-region from
April 09. From a CSP perspective SASSOT has been working to ensure that
it is fit for purpose and in a position to deliver all the required core services
for NGBs under its new agreement with Sport England.
Achievements
Putting in place a range of support services for NGBs that meet the requirements
of SASSOT’s new award agreement with Sport England
Working with athletics to obtain new funding from England Athletics to
support an Athletics Network in the South Staffordshire area
Providing a range of communications services to ensure effective engagement
between NGBs and other key partners including quarterly NGB Forum
meetings, NGB Newsletter and SSP/NGB networking days
Maintaining existing NGB/CSP partnership agreements
Commissioning new NGB led activity through the Sport Unlimited programme
Plans for the next 12 months
Work with Sport England and the NGB network to identify priority sports
for the sub-region
Support NGBs to deliver their Whole Sport Plans within the Staffordshire
and Stoke sub-region
Develop new partnership agreements with NGBs that reflect Sport England’s
enhanced and core services requirements and any specific services
to be provided over and above these
Continue to provide hosting arrangements for NGB officers where required
Ensure effective delivery of the new enhanced and core services for NGBs
in line with SASSOT’s new lottery award
